When the Ocean Edge High School Eco Club decided to plan a three-day cleanup sprint, they never imagined how much impact they’d make — or how much foam they’d collect.

Over the course of a long weekend, 22 students cleaned three local beaches, collecting over 420 pounds of foam food containers, cups, and packaging. What made their effort remarkable wasn’t just the amount — it was their coordination.

Each day started with team chants, cleanup kits packed the night before, and a clear goal: restore a beach, educate the community, and document their progress.

"People kept asking why we were doing this," said Maya, the club president. "And the answer was simple — the ocean needs us."

The Refoam team joined them on the final day to help sort and recycle materials. Their story now serves as a blueprint for other youth-led clubs looking to take action.

"Three beaches, three days, and one mission — show that teens can lead big change." — Maya, Club President
